Summary:
A really fine saw, can't be beaten when used with a 20-25" bar. Lighter than anything else of comparable horsepower.
Strengths:
Cuts VERY fast. Better weight/horsepower ratio than comparable Husqvarna saws.
Weaknesses:
Balance is nose heavy when a long 32" bar is used. Costs more than cmparable Huskys.
Used product for 1-year
Purchased From Bill's service, Blissfield Mi.

Summary:
Highly recommend. Its my first real saw I would say as I cut a few cords of wood each year for home use. Have a Poulan pro 325 with 20 inch bar. This is a very good saw but can't handle the large oaks and ash I run across sometimes. The Stihl 460 is amazing! I'm impressed for sure.
Strengths:
Impressive cutting thru large oaks. Starts easy and without effort. have a 28 inch bar on it which performs flawlessly.
Weaknesses:
Not a weakness but cost is higher than most other saws of this size.

Summary:
Dont even think about buying anything els for cutting trees even a smaller stihl because with the power to weight the 460 can cut allot faster.(If your leg can handle the rooster tail of sawdust)!!!
Strengths:
Has more than enuogh power to cut through everything I have used it on so far. This saw being a (professina saw) Has never skipped a beat.I have had this MS460 for 3 years now. This thing will throw sawdust for 15-20feet away. I've had the cheap throw away saws in the past and their just that, garbage and a big waste of money. If you have a MS460 or you go buy one TRUST ME YOU WOULD NEVER BE HAPPY WITH ANYTHIN ELS!!!This saw kicks ASS
Weaknesses:
This saw is alittle but heavy for limbing, but if you are going to be doing allot of limbing in the near future just go buy a small ms180 homeowner series that will run you about $200. This will save you in the long run with the chiropractor bills.Price may be high but the long-life is fricken piceless. You will spend $800.-$900. Depending on how long the bar is. I almost forgot to tell you if you buy from a dealer tell them to get rid of the saftey chain and put on a Chizel FOR THE SAME PRICE!!!(cuts allot better)

Summary:
bought this one in 1997 when they came out. Still running strong with over 7000 hours of hard cutting time. I wouldn't recommend anything other than this product. It has powered through some hairy situations from routine removals to fire hardened timber. It may cost more, but you will have the reliability and durability that you would expect from stihl.
Strengths:
Best overall saw on the market today. This is a machine that was made for the task at hand. The power to weight disttribution is outstanding. It has more than enough muscle to chew through any of the hardwoods of the northeast. Not only do you have the power required, but there is also the issue of maintenance. Care for this tool is truly as easy as 1 2 3.
Weaknesses:
The weight with a longer bar of 28-32 inches can be tiresome and the cost is a little more than other saws of comparable size.

Strengths:
the 961 441 and 460 are all great saws it is just what you need it for for most the 961 will do anything you need unless you do logging for a living then the 441 is smother and more powerfull and the 460 isa step up but expensive easy to mantain

GREAT SAW GET ONE AND GO HAVE FUN
Strengths:
I REALLY LIKE MY 460, I HAVE HAD IT FOR 1 YEAR NOW AND CUT ALOT OF WOOD WITH IT. ITS ALOT LIGHTER THAN MY 660 BUT DOESN'T HAVE NEAR THE POWER. I RUN A 25 INCH WIDE NOSE RS BAR WITH RSC CHAIN AND IT CUTS VERY FAST. I CUT ONLY DEAD LOCUST AND IT EATS IT UP WITH POWER TO SPARE, IT PUT THE DUAL PORT MUFFLER COVER ON IT AND ALSO ON MY 660 AND THEY MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IF THE SAWS ARE RETUNED CORRECTLY.

Summary:
Good all purpose saw. For a saw user that knows how to handle a saw it is the only saw a person needs.
Strengths:
Good anti vibe. The best thing about the Stihl MS 460 is the power band. Being a 76 cc saw is a big plus for running a 24" and longer bars.
Weaknesses:
Stock dawgs are to short in height, in some bucking jobs the chain brake is pushed into your hand.

worth every penny!
Strengths:
Great power and reliable! Have had my 046 for almost 10 years and it has never skipped a beat. I run a 25'' bar with .404 full skip chain, can notice a little difference in power but it really cuts and is a bit easier to sharpen with the bigger chain, but I would say that a 25'' bar and 3/8 chain would be the best power to chain/bar ratio!

Summary:
Outstanding
Strengths:
Just bought this saw with a 25" bar and run it through a few tons of oak and ash. Used 041 AV for years and whilst still a superb saw the MS460 is in a different class. Truly superb and endless power. Reliable and very smooth powerfeed. Far better than the MS441 which feels like Jelly / Jello and unconnected. It's far more economical than reviews elsewhere would have you believe on both petrol / gas and chain oil. Have no fear buy this saw it will last for many many years if you take care of it.
Weaknesses:
None - but still wish Stihl would use alloy rear handle end instead of Plastic.

Gave it up and bought a Husqvarna 390XP.
Strengths:
Good power-to-weight ratio
Weaknesses:
The kill switch is hidden and difficult to use. Moving "up" to turn off is anatomically difficult and counter-intuitive. In some situations, damn near impossible to turn off without removing your hand from the handle to find the switch.
The fuel and oil caps are over-complicated and we've had both fall out on occasion, spilling oil and fuel on us and the earth. Over-engineering at its worst!

Summary:
Best cutting saw I've ever used. I decided to get this model over the MS 660 because the 660 is really overkill for most of the jobs I do. If I ever find that I have to have the power of the MS660, I guarantee that the job's gonna pay enough I can buy the MS660 and still clear plenty of coin. The initial investment can be alot to swallow but if you do tree service a saw like this will make life easier and make you money. I HIGHLY recommend this saw with a 25" bar. All I buy is Stihl regardless if it's a weedeater, blower, or chainsaw. If Stihl makes it, you can bet its one of the best money can buy.
Strengths:
Lots of torque. I bought mine today and love that this saw which feels pretty close in weight to my 20" MS310 cuts at least twice as fast. Im running a 25" bar. I had a tree removal job for a customer today one oak ~40" and one pine about 30"-ish. Not once during the job did the saw bog down. It just kept on cutting no matter how deep the bar was buried. I would highly recommend this saw to anyone who needs alot of power yet, you don't want excessive weight. If this saw ever wears out, I'll be buying another. Anti-Vib is really nice. This saw is easier on your hands than my Stihl MS 310. Saw has unbelievable power-to-weight performance. Feels about the same in the hands as my MS310 but this thing has soooooo much more balls. If your gonna buy a good saw to use day in and day out I would definitely suggest this model. If not this model then at least one in the pro series from Stihl. AWESOME SAW!!!!
Weaknesses:
It did flood once but, it was my fault.
