Summary:
Overall a great saw. It replaced my 20 year old Husky and I don't think I will ever buy anything other than a Stihl. I tried a few Huskys and Stihls, and the Stihl won every time.
Strengths:
Well balanced saw. With the 20" bar it has plenty of power for any job that an occassional user would need.
Weaknesses:
None yet.

Summary:
I can run this all day for my families tree service and it never misses a beat and probably never will
Strengths:
Great power and plenty light enough, I have to laugh when someone says a chainsaw is heavy when your talking about 1 pounds difference in another brand, I guess loading the wood is not heavy work. This saw will last a lifetime if ran with the right fuel and synthetic oil, even the bottom barrel stihls do
Weaknesses:
It weighs 9 ounces more than other saws, oh no

Summary:
With the 20" bar this saw kicks butt! Beleive it or not, there is a big difference!
Strengths:
The MS310 is a great saw all around. More power than the farm boss. Not too expensive. Good weight ratio. Easy to handle. 20" bar is perfect!
Weaknesses:
I bought the saw with a 24" bar. $10 more than the same saw with a 20" bar. I wish I would have saved the $10 and stayed with the 20" bar. I ended up paying $60 for a new 20" bar and chain because the saw bogged down when only cutting through 16" logs. I thought it was a carb issue and had my 2 week old saw looked at. Not the case. The logs I was cutting were cut 4 months prior. Real green. But still.........No butter action with the 24"

Summary:
I'm very happy with this saw. Great power for the price.
Strengths:
Great overall saw. Nicely balanced with either an 18" or 20" bar. I have used this saw at least 2 days a week for almost a year now. Runs great and cuts great (especially without the reduced kickback chain).
Weaknesses:
Sometimes requires a couple more pulls to start in the winter when compared to other saws I have used, but once started it runs great anytime of the year.

Summary:
Hope to have this saw a long time ( I have my mac 610 for over 20 years )Would recommend it to anyone. My neighbor is a professional logger, uses only stihls and was impressed with this saw.
Strengths:
Cuts well.. I have owned a number of saws but none better. I have a pro mac 610 that I have cut a lot of wood up with and the MS310 is about twice as fast. I have it with an 18" bar and do not have to lean on this at all.. just put it on the tree and it walks through it.
Weaknesses:
not that Ive noticed.. other that the obvious that for limbing a lighter saw will do just fine but even there it is much faster cutting, just more saw than needed.

Summary:
Great saw, bought another one the next day. 4 years later, no complaints and still couldn't find a better saw for the money.
Strengths:
Great power for the money. Cuts better than the similar Husky's I've used (460 Rancher/359).
Weaknesses:
Broke when a 3 ton tree landed on it, who knew? Used it for 4 years before I messed up. Saw never missed a beat.

Summary:
Went through a few truck loads of wood, its great for camping and for getting wood to heat the house. Need a new chain, other than that its cheaper than a husky and kicks their ass.
Strengths:
Brand new it kicked ass. I had the 20 inch bar then put the 25 inch bar on it.
Weaknesses:
My fault i ran some older gas through it and it took a few more pulls to warm up but that will happen with any saw. And i pinched the chain going through a big round after that the chain was garbage, once again my fault.

Summary:
one of the best saws that i have ever owned. this saw replaced my my 8 year old 044 pro. and it could still put that old saw in the dust.
Strengths:
being a logger for 15 years i have not seen a saw that works better or more effeciently than my MS310. i have taken my saw to some of the biggest trees that i have ever seen in my 15 years of logging. and every time it has cut them quick and clean. i am very impressed with the saw.
Weaknesses:
the only weaknesses that i have seen in my saw since i have gotton it is that every husky fan wants to bag on it. but every time i offer them to try it out they say no. They just dont want to understand the difference in torqe of hp.

Summary:
Excellent saw for the money with planty of power.
Strengths:
Very good saw. Plenty of power and the 3/8 pitch chain cuts through anything I can put it on. I also have an MS192 top handle saw for cutting up brush so bewtween the two saws it is the perfect arsenal. Stihl builds quality products.
Weaknesses:
No weaknesses with this saw other than a couple weeks after using it the choke lever malfunctionded. Took it to the dealer and it was replaced and never happened again. Any saw can have a problem but as long as the dealer stands behind the prodcut there isn't anything to worry about.

Summary:
overall I think Stihl should pull there heads out and go back to when there saws were better made better assemble and better value for the money
Strengths:
hard to think of many strenghts. Its pretty much a TURD with a capital T.
Weaknesses:
Where should I start. It weighs to much to be as cheaply made as it is. Pull rope busted twice and it was still white inside. It has always had a horrible non-adjustable bog when you hit the throttle ended up being told by the dealer that the carb was bad. Guess they go bad from one day to the next so I replaced the carb which was 90 dollars and it did'nt help changed fuel filter tank vent spark plug so many times that I cant remember but nothing helps. Now its in pieces so I could see if anything is bad and it has a carbon pattern on piston that I have never seen but dont look bad 135 psi compression seems low got a 13 year old 066 with 155 psi. Also the clutch shoes arent assemble the same and they seem to be rubbin on outside of clutch bell. Cant think of all the problems because gettin angry thinking about it just being a 450 dollar throw away.Should have bought a 044,440,460
