Summary:
Good balance of power and weight. Has many different head attachments. Full reccomendation on this one. If you don't buy a gas powered Stihl trimmer, you might as well order one from Fischer Price.

Strengths:
The Stihl FS250 is a powerhouse. It doesn't bog down and has minimal drag through even the heaviest brush. It will even mow down small saplings with only standard line. I work for a Parks Department and use one every day. Keep it greased, replace the air filter perodically and run decent fuel through it and it will tough it out for years to come, as with any Stihl product. Fantastic weedeater.

Weaknesses:
If you're not careful you can really kill line with this beast. If you get too close to a fence or a T-bar and don't react quickly, kiss your line goodbye. That's easily remedied by skill and precision however. With experience it is the perfect machine.

Summary:
The best trimmer/brushcutter I've ever used - better even than my old school FS 86 that lasted the better part of two decades. All power, with little fatigue. This is the next best thing to spending $800 on a bulky, heavy, although very powerful 300 or 400 series cutter.

Strengths:
The power of this machine is unreal. I've not ever not been impressed with this trimmer (and don't really understand why it's classified as a trimmer - Although I have no trouble using it to trim residential areas, this thing oughtta bear the "brushcutter" title.) I can go from trimming around mowed areas, directly to chopping up tall grass and hay without worrying that I won't have the right tool. ALSO, this machine seems like it might even be lighter than my trusty FS 90. This might just be my expectations playing tricks, but I couldn't tell a difference.

Weaknesses:
Gets hot. As a tall fella, I only use one hand to trim over hills and hard to reach places - it's just easier (thankfully the 250 is light.) I usually grip the handle tight and brace the top of the motor housing at my mid-forearm. This method is even effective with the 250, but if you touch the wrong part of the housing, prepare to scream and smell burnt hair.

Incredible power. I am too old to use one now but I pay my guys to use them all day long. "Macho" would be a good description. The FS-250s are the choice of my professionals. They love the FS-250!

Weaknesses:
Cost a lot-but this is the price to get in the game.

Summary:
Great toy. I would buy another.

Strengths:
the FS250 is the best weed trimmer i have ever owned. and I have owned and used over 30 different ones. The header on this review mislabels this as a stupid 4 cycle which it is not. It is a true 2 Cycle engine that is rated at 2.2HP. It came from dealer with a 40-2 autotap head. Ya thats 40 feet of .105 line. It last quite a while. Also have a 40-4 autotap head which is 40 feet of .105 with 4 cutting lines, a 12 inch tri-blade, and a 12 inch carbide tablesaw blade bored out center hole to fit. It is very well balanced. Plenty of power. Heavier than my FS80 but job gets done quicker. Also it is actually refered to as a Brush Cutter by Stihl.

Weaknesses:
I only could afford one of these.

Summary:
Typical Stihl reliabilty

Strengths:
FS 250 is the Minigun of the weedeater world. This BEAST will cut anything when you put the tri-knife blade on there. I cut briars on our atv trails and this beast doesn't even slow down. No problems with it in about 3 yrs of cutting briars & saplings. Very comfortable harness. use only high octane fuel (93) & stihl oil. This is a 2 stroke motor.

Weaknesses:
Loud, slightly heavy, but you will be astonished at the amount of brush, briars, vines, weeds, and other stuff that you will blast off your hillsides & ATV trails with this stihl minigun. I get coverd in desintigrated weeds along the creek banks because I can cut so fast with this beast. I am going to purchase a smaller weedeater for use around the yard & flower boxes.

Awesome brushcutter. Relocate the choke or make it more difficult to turn on and off and this would be the perfect piece.

Strengths:
Great power! Balances very well. Harness is comfortable. With a blade attachment will take down small trees! Grass, weeds, etc is a joke for this monster.

Weaknesses:
There is one major weakness and cannot believe no one else has stated it. Choke placement is horrible. When cutting down hill my back is constantly turn the choke on this flooding the engine. In 2 hours time, I need to turn the choke back off at least 2 dozen times or restart the engine due to flooding.

Summary:
I rarely use the string and keep the blade on it full time. It's great for fence rows and making new trails. It will not disappoint. Buy it. 10+ years owning.

Strengths:
Great for any kind of a bush with stickers that you don'T want to get close to. It will eliminate them. This is a man's machine and demands your full attention: ear protection, safety glasses required.

Weaknesses:
You will wear out before it. Burn a tank of fuel and take a rest. It can be hard to start if not used often and bicycle bars make it more awkward to start than without. It's weight will tire you after a period. But look at what it can do.
