Great trimmer, very heavy duty, performance is awesome. Stihl makes good stuff, I don't think anyone ever questions that. Another great product to add to their catalog.
Strengths:
I also like this trimmer, but I think I'll add a bit more than my friend here. I bought this just as the new 4-Mix platform started shipping. I had the chance to demo one out of a Stihl trailer full of equipment. I was very impressed with how the engine ran, it did not take much for me to get upgrade fever. The new engines are much nicer than their 2-cycle counter parts. It runs more quiet and has this snappy powerful feeling to it.
Weaknesses:
They do recomend running a synthetic 50:1 mix now. The oils is only a few cents more expensive, but I did have a few of the old ones on hand that I had to throw out. 89 octane is also reomended, but I've just used 87 out of habbit and never had an issue.

Design flaw in the gas cap. Stilh tried to get to fancy and they screwed up something very simple ... a gas cap. Do not by this trimmer. My local stilh dealer did not seem to concerned that I have to go to their shop every time I fill up. Not to mention, it is the most expensive trimmer on the market.

The gas cap design is flawed. I've owned this trimmer for about 5 months. The dealer basically told me to go get a new cap every time I fill it (i'm on my 3rd gas cap so far). They said that many people are having this same problem. They did not seem to think much of the fact that they sold me a defective product.

Outstanding equipment.
There is a factory recall on the gas cap on almost all Stihl products. The caps are damaged by ethanol in the gasoline. Look under the cap. If there is the letter D or lower molded onto the cap, it is covered by the recall. Letter E or higher is not covered.

The view we now have of the creek from this spot (which will be even better during the winter and spring months) is incredible. We also plan on taking out a huge patch by the barn, but that will wait until winter sometime or at least until Dave is finished chipping the current brush piles.

We own two of these machines. One is a year old and the other was bought last month. We have never had any problems with either one of them.I was cautioned to use non-ethanol fuel and synthetic oil by Ted's Saw Shop in Clayton, Texas.
We use 91 octane non-ethanol fuel in all our equipment here in the city. So far, five stars!
Strengths:
This is a very smooth running machine. It is powerful reliable. It is also durable.

None I have discovered.
