Summary:
Have used saw to cut enough wood to heat my 2.5 car garage for 4 Chicago area winters with minimal maintenance. Am only now having problems which a good carb cleaning should fix. 18" bar works with this saw, but just enough. A shorter bar perks this dude up and reduces strain on engine.
Strengths:
Has been a pretty good running and starting saw. When cold 2-3 pulls on choke til it coughs then choke off and 1-2 pulls. Mostly first pull when warm! I like the balance/ low weight. For smaller limb work I like to swap in a 14" bar that I had on an old saw and watch the chips FLY!!
Weaknesses:
Recently will run 30 sec and die. Put in new spark plug and runs 45 sec-am figuring carb/fuel problem now.
ViBrAtIoN!! Wear padded gloves to reduce tingling hand at end of day.
Stock chain dulls quickly. Replacement Oregon blades hold edge longer. When dull cut will curve to left.
Gas and oil caps lack tethers and are sometimes difficult to put on.
