Summary:
Thanks to M.C.'s so called "deal", I bought this saw instead of a leaking stihl. And the speed limit in Utica 30, not 48.

Strengths:
Its not a stihl. I don't need a John Deere or a Remington to make up for the lack of power that a stihl saw doesn't have. Husqvarna's saws don't require me to have big muscles to run them.

Weaknesses:
M.C. doesn't own one, but he will.

Summary:
Solid saw. Good for firewood, or falling small/medium trees. I had a used one, and ran it for just over a year. I have many other saws, Stihl and Husky. MS261, MS441, had an MS460, had an AV041, have a 395XP, and a 3120XP. The 385 was a reliable, strong mid/large saw. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise.

Strengths:
The larger Husky XP's will run forever, under the worst abuse.

Weaknesses:
They are more difficult to work on than Stihls (my opinion0, but still worth owning if you spend anytime in the woods.

Weaknesses:

Summary:
better saw than a stihl for the money. i have a 026, 029, 55 rancher, 385xp, and a 394xp which was built in 1998 and still has 158 psi of compresssion. what that tell you. my 029 doesnt start for shit even with good compression. the huskys start on 2nd or 3rd pull from cold every time. will never buy another stihl ever again.

Strengths:
very good cutting saw with plenty of power to cut just about whatever you want. this saw is not heavier than a stihl. dont know that guy was smoking. my opinion on workability is easy, especially air filter maintenance. stihl air filters plug way faster than the husky [real mans saw]

Weaknesses:
there are none

love the saw would recomend it to anyone who knows there way around the woods and ps i have both stihl and husqy

Strengths:
lots of power, runs well, nice bump up from a 372 for those bigger trees where you just need a little longer bar and want to keep the same power

Weaknesses:
none that i have seen, people on here are bitching about the weight, well then dont run it and further more half of you have said you had it for 3 years, you couldnt figure out you werent man enough after the first few days so you kept running it for 3 years? go to the hardware store and get your self an eager beaver then

Summary:
Overall the 385XP is a great saw. I can't fault it in any way. If you need the horsepower you will pay a price in weight(with any brand). The Husqvarna XP series saws are great saws( I can say I dont like the 500 series saws much though). Husqvarna saws turn up rpms and pull through wood better than Stihl saws in my opinion.

Strengths:
just want to say the 385xp is a great saw that is no longer being made(according to husqvarna rep). Its about all youll ever need unless you're a west coast logger. I have to say though that the best all around saw ever made though is the 372xp husqvarna. You simply cant beat it for power/weight and they hold up great. I've run Stihl and Husqvarna both - 044, 066, 460,660 and 268, 272, 372, 385, 394, 395. Im a timber cutter, I cut trees with a saw not a big machine. I know what a saw will do. You put a saw in a big veneer white oak and youll see what one is made of. Husqvarnas just power on through and keep pulling. In my opinion Husqvarna XP's are the superior saw.

Weaknesses:
I dont see any weak points. Some people gripe about weight- with big power comes increased weight. Increased fuel and oil capacity is a factor but damn would you rather fill up all the time. Husqvarna does a good job engineering in fuel capacity. If you want light carry an ax.

Summary:
My choice of felling saw. The crew had Occupational and Safety check by the authorities and after some plunge cutting and difficult felling techniques with supplied Stihl saws, I handed my 385XP to him and said try this. He was supprized at just how good it was, he just kept playing with it.

Strengths:
Has good balance and lighter than my Stihl's. The bastard starts every time in the forests. (NZ)

Weaknesses:
Felling only, not good for trimming up over long periods as the balance changes which makes it heavy to swing.

Summary:
Awesome saw if you cut big wood or want to power through smaller wood faster. Baileys has all the bars and chain you could ever need for this saw.

Strengths:
Strong saw, sounds like it means business even before you start cutting. A bit heavy but then it's over 6HP. Runs big bars with ease and is needed for the big spruce I deal with.

Weaknesses:
Best for felling, can become tiring after a while if used for bucking or limbing.

Summary:
Very satisfied. Looking at a 395XP tomorrow

Strengths:
Great saw for cutting large quantities of wood. Love the horsepower. Yea it's a bit heavy, but what do you expect. It starts every time unlike my little husky with the California anti smog crap. Can't get that one started.

Weaknesses:
Couple of things that irritate me. First the gas tank started leaking after about 4 years......... The stupid screws that hold on the top lid have all stripped out and I needed to drill and tap to hold the lid on. A real drag, but other than that love the saw.

Summary:
I could buy another one or move up to a 395 and be happy to get 10 years of milling out of it as I did with my old 385xp but I do hope there is probably a more solidly built saw out there. going to move on.

Strengths:
reliable to start year after year for the 10 years I have owned it. very powerful. rugged design for the most part. Even the chain drive sprocket and bearings impressed me with how long they lasted before needing replacing. I used this saw almost exclusively for milling. air filtration system kept the filter clean for a long time before needing replacement.

Weaknesses:
things were always rattling out of it. screws and bushings for the chain break would not stay put. had to replace the chain tensioner which fell out while changing bald. Gas tank leaked after a few years and always has since. Took it to get repaired and still leaked after repair. Heavy for power by todays standards. Too many plastic parts which should be metal. chain tensioner was under built.
