if u have plenty of $ it's a good saw but i would recomend a husky 460 rancher i'm geting one in january het a free axe,shirt hat al together it's only $389.99

Had a 455 Rancher for 2 years before I bought this one, ended up not using my rancher hardly at all, this is a great saw for firewood and smaller jobs. To me the XP is well worth the money.
Strengths:
super high reving saw, light weight, great for smaller trees and limbing

Strengths:
over priced save your money and buy a 455 or a 460 ,346xp is very over rated.

Great saw this thing will out cut my 455 no problem.Its a fast cutter runs smooth and starts easy,my 455 is a bear to fire up.

Strengths:
It's a Husky XP low weight and high RPM!
Takes well to mods too!
Comes in a Red and Black edition too! the 2153!

I use this 80% of the wood I cut. 18" bar with Oregon LGX chain good combo if you are experienced. This is a prof. tool, it demands respect. Good pair with my Husqvarna 570. I went with the best 50cc class saw as i knew it would get more use then my larger 70cc saw. As long as you are running a sharp chain it is pretty hard to stop/slow down.
Strengths:
Fast cutting, Light weight, Lots of power, Lots of Torque, Revs Hight, Revs Fast, Starts easy, runs smooth. Chains are fair priced over larger/longer cahins

I have a 3120xp, 394xp, two 372xps, 281xp, a couple 55s, 455R, 272xp project, Stihl 036 Pro, 017, 044 project. My 346 gets used, a lot. I compares well with my 55s (53cc models)- powerbands are just different. I use my 455 to loan out...do not like the plastic bucket carrying a power unit that the consumers saws all seem to have...prefer a true crankcase. The 455 is tuned well and modded and the 346 still outcuts it. Outcuts my 036 Pro as well.
Strengths:
light, easy to limb with, easy to mod and get usable gains. Has good power, I use it interchangeably with my 55 for limbing and firewood. Goes with a 372 into the mountains as a backup. Mine is an older, hopped-up, pre-NE saw, had if for some time. And, very easy to work on. Pop the top, it's all there.
Weaknesses:
uses a bit of gas, but all my saws do, this one is no worse.

I have run many chainsaws of this size in my wood cutting career. This is the best one so far. Many people think it is pricey, you get what you pay for in this chainsaw! Anybody that doesn't love this saw is crazy

best saw for topping out firewood.sthils290 and 310 cant hold a light .easy out cuts 2 to 1.very dep had 1 for 4yrs.well worth money.easy starting .going back to husky .wasted money on sthil.super fast.
Weaknesses:
bit of gas hog but does not bother me run out about 3 mins before 290sthil but still cut twice the wood. hard to keep enough wood around you to cut.does not hold up good to 100hp tractor running over it.

I bought my 346 for $390 new from norwalk power over a year ago. About 10 years ago i bought a 55 rancher for $300 and i like the 346 a degree or 2 better. Course now you can't find the 346 for $390, but rather about $490.
Other saws i own are a 372xp, a 576xp and 026 and 044 Sthil's. Whoever doesn't like this saw other than for factor of price, is either very ignorant or received a lemon from the factory(which i think to be very rare).
Strengths:
Overall has great power, quick revving, nice balance, very smooth with little vibration, easy to start, nice sound. Can carry around all day long to do limbing or cutting firewood. Have expectations for this saw to last me years and years!!
Weaknesses:
Purcase price is rather high,, but on the contrast, costs just as much as s a 026 sthil which is a comparable unit. Like someone said in a previous post you get what you pay for in a commmercial grade saw.

Great saw! If you own one, make sure your plug gap is correct, because it makes a big difference. Bought it off a guy who bought it new and it didn't run right because it was gapped at .015".

A lot lighter than my husky 61 and my mcculloch mac 10-10.

Strengths:
I've completed about 8000 acres of timber stand improvement with my saw. Had the little dude for 10 years now and have only had carb rebuilt. It is a working machine. Fast and Light and Bulletproof.
