Summary:
Good saw, worth buying; especially if cost is a real consideration, but you still need a saw in the 65-70cc class. I view this saw's closest competitor in the Stihl line-up as being the MS-390. The MS-390 being a moderate use saw and the Echo being commercial grade. When comparing it against the pro grades Stihl MS 361 and MS 441; the Echo is a little heavier and less powerful than the Stihl's, however, it cost hundreds of dollars less in some cases. Warranty is the best in the business.
Strengths:
Very reliable, always starts on 2nd or 3rd pull, very nice balance with a 20" B&C, slightly nose heavy with a 24" B&C, easy starter, ease of maintenance with easy access to air filter and spark plug, manual oiler is a real plus, and the saw has nice torque levels. 5 year home warranty!
Weaknesses:
Stihl and Husky saws will run at higher RPM levels improving cut and production efficeincy over the Echo. Echo cut times are very respectable...just not as fast as its Stihl and Husky professional saw counterparts. Echo suffers slightly in power to weight ration versus Stihl and Husky in the 65-70cc class of saws.
