Summary:
These saws are always sold NIB on ebay (where I bought mine) and you can snag one for $160-$180. You will never find a better saw for that price. If you buy at the local Home Depot (usually $260-ish) you might want to pony up the extra $50-60 bucks for the 440.

Strengths:
Lots of power for the engine size. Lightweight and starts like it wants to run 100 mph. I cut oak and cherry logs 12-20 inches in diameter and it rips right through them with a sharp chain.

Weaknesses:
Floods easily if you aren't careful with the purge bulb. I've never needed to prime the carb with the exception of the first time I put gas in it. Just pull the choke and you're ready to go.

Summary:
So far I am very happy with this saw. I paid $265.00 at Home depot. I didn't want to buy on-line for fear of a 'used' or damaged unit. I suppose you could find it cheaper, but I wanted to be sure it was brand new. It set up in mimutes and started immediately. This is a pretty powerfull saw for a homeowner and maybe more than what is needed for trimming. I'm hopefull I'll get many years of use out of this saw.

Strengths:
Very Powerful. Very easy starting and great features- the easy access air filter and the adjustable automatic oiler are terrific. I also like the low cost of new chains and air filter. I cut 5 to 6 cords a year and my old Stihl is on its last legs. This Echo was over $150 less than a comparable Stihl. I went with the Echo since I have been happy with other Echo products that have been very dependable.

Weaknesses:
So far I have had no problems. However, I have only used the saw less than five hours.
